WWW Wednesday

Okay, I’ve made three days this week. I can do two more. Then, I’ll be on vacation. I can make it!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. Participants are invited to answer three questions each week:

What are you currently reading?

What did you just finish reading?

What are you planning on reading next?

Currently Reading:

So, here me out on Interview with the Vampire: I haven’t touched it since Thanksgiving but I’m totally going to finish it next week when I’m on vacation. It’s my goal. I’ve been dithering around too much with it and just want to get through.

I’m about halfway through Finale by Stephanie Garber, and I’m really liking it. I’ve just been so tired before bed at night, I’m not getting through as much as I thought I would.

Beyond the Grave by C.J. Archer is the third Ministry of Curiosities books and, while I’m not very far into it, I’m still enjoying it. I’m just getting a little frustrated by the romance. I want it to progress and it’s regressing before my eyes.

I started On Writing by Stephen King last night. So far, it’s pretty interesting. I’m impressed by his dedication to writing at an early age. I spent every day of my life from childhood to earlier this year insisting I would never, ever be a full time writer. Now, that’s all I want to be.

Just Finish Reading:

I finished The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg over the weekend and thought it was interesting. It had some great explanations on how habits form and how we can exert control over changing them.

Her Majesty’s Necromancer by C.J. Archer was very good. I thought the the falling action of the book went on a little long. It didn’t have as exciting as climax as the first book, bu the ending made it all worthwhile.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman was okay. I’m not really into contemporary fiction, especially adult contemporary fiction, but this was cute enough. I’m just not sure if I agree with the message. Or, at least, what the book club questions at the end are implying the message is. I have no idea of Waxman intended it to be read the way I’m reading it, but, yeah. My review will be up next week.

What I’m reading next

I plan to read ALL THE BOOKS next. I borrowed a literal ton of books from my sister at Thanksgiving and bought a few more from Thrift Books. But, I think the winner will be:

It’s in my possession, it’s supposed to be good, and I’m going to devour it.

WWW Wednesday November 27

Hey everyone! It’s Wednesday and time for WWW Wednesday once again. WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words. Each week, participants are invited to answer three questions:

What are you currently reading?

What did you just finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading:

I’m listening to The Last Necromancer by C.J. Archer. I just started listening to it on Monday and meant to listen on my trip down to my parents, but got caught up in podcasts instead. Still, I liked what I listened to and can’t wait to read more.

I also made some more progress on Interview with the Vampire. They’ve finally made it off the plantation and are heading to New Orleans soon. So, progress!

Just finished reading:

I finished A Touch of Death by Rebecca Crunden over the weekend and really enjoyed it. My review is here. I finished The Night Country by Melissa Albert yesterday and loved it. I thought it was super fantastic.

Reading next

To be perfectly honest, I am probably going to march into my sister’s room after I’m done writing this post and borrow Finale by Stephanie Garber because I’ve been dying to read it and she said I could borrow it when I visited. I probably won’t read either book I’m currently reading at all. I also probably will not get started with The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner like I meant to this week like I intended because I will be reading Finale. So, that’s what I’m reading next.

WWW Wednesday

It’s Wednesday! Let’s celebrate the middle of the week with a weekly tradition! WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. Each week, participants are invited to answer three questions:

What are you reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

I stared A Touch of Death by Rebecca Crunden a few days ago, and so far, I’m enjoying it. I’m not entirely sure what’s going to happen or where it’s going so far. Two of the character just risked their lives, leaving their town and walking through freezing rain and mud to escape, only for one of the character to contact her father once they got to the next town and find out everything was okay. So, I’m not quite sure what they did or why they had to run, but I’m sure it’ll all be explained.

I’m listening to The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well by Meik Wiking. It’s about how the Danish people, who are consistently ranked as the happiest in the world, manage to make themselves so happy through their devotion to all things comfortable, or hygge (hoo-ga). It’s… okay. It’s a little repetitive, and I had to skip most of the chapter on recipes because it was so boring to listen to, but it’s fine. It convinced me to break out some candles to make my space more comfortably lit and I like it.

I’m also sorta still reading Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice, but most nights, I’m too tired to get to that one. I’ll devote myself to it next week, when I have off.

I just finished Fable by Michele Packard, which I didn’t enjoy. I wanted to, because it was about a female covert operative, and the world needs more of them, but it just was not very well written. You can find my review here.

The very next book I’m reading is the ARC of The Night Country by Melissa Albert. I’m very excited for that one. After that, I’ll start The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner, which I thought sounded fun.

That’s it for me. What are you reading this week?

I think I’m overextending myself a bit this week. I’m reading Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik, which I love, Happier at Home by Gretchen Rubin, which is interesting, Rage by Jonathan Maberry, which is super intense, and I’m listening to 13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don’t Do by Amy Morin, which is good. I’m enjoying everything I’m reading, I’m just reading a lot.

Recently Finished

Even though I listened to Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis a month or so ago, I bought the book and reread it in my spare time (I’m not even being sarcastic; I read during recess). I quite enjoyed the reread and got a lot out it.

Reading next: I have no idea what I’m reading next. Either something off the huge pile of books in my room, or I’ll get something I don’t need from the library. I can’t focus enough to decide.

I’m reading Happier at Home by Gretchen Rubin. I read The Happiness Project by her a few years ago and liked it. I also listen to her podcast. I’m in a real mood for nonfiction fiction right now, so I decided to borrow it from the library the other night.

I’m also listening to 13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don’t Do by Amy Morin. Again, I listened to her book on 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do earlier this year and got a lot from it. I decided to give this one a whirl. It was so funny today because I drove home from work, I started the chapter on how mentally strong women don’t overthink things. and that’s so me. It was like listening to a chapter all about me.

I’m also trying to read Nocturnal Blood by Villimey Mist. I got it for free off Amazon. It’s not quite my taste, however, and, like I said, I’m really into non-fiction right now, so it’s not quite working for me.

I just finished Spark Joy by Marie Kondo, which I really enjoyed. My review will be up tomorrow, but, suffice to say, I decluttered a lot while reading this book. And I feel very good about it.

I also finished The Wellness Project by Phoebe Lapine. In it, she undertakes a year long project to improve her health and well-being. She tackles diet, exercise, skin care and more. She’s also a professional chef so each chapter included recipes that I bookmarked to go back to.

Gosh, I don’t even know. I’ve got so many things to read and no desire to read them because they’re all fiction. I’ve been carrying Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik around with me, but haven’t opened it yet. Maybe I’ll start this weekend.

I just started Spark Joy by Marie Kondo last night, and it made me want to jump up and start decluttering. I mean, I don’t actually like that plain white tee shirt or gray v-neck, why am I holding onto them? Because I feel like I should? That’s a dumb reason to take up space in my drawer. Anyway, I’m only a little way in, but I’m enjoying it.

I’m also reading The Wellness Project by Phoebe Lapin, which is about her one year quest to take control of her health. The problem is I’m currently on the chapter about getting better sleep and I’m exhausted, so I keep putting it down to sleep. Oops!

As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of the The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes was such a treat to read. It made me want to rewatch the movie, reread the book, and just generally wallow in the beauty of it all.

I’ll probably read Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik sooner rather than later because I’m not reading any fiction at the moment. It’s literally on top of my TBR pile because I just keep piling things on the corner of my bookshelf and then checking out books from the library instead of reading. What is going on with me?

What are you reading this Wednesday? If you could do one thing to make yourself healthier or tidier, what would it be?

I’m not feeling very chatty today. I had another asthma attack at work and ran off to the doctor. They prescribed some stuff and the pharmacy still hasn’t filled it. I’m a little frustrated.

Anyway, onto the questions.
