Book Snob Tag

I saw this tag over on Emma’s Library and though it looked like fun. I don’t know who did the original, so if you do, let me know! It looks like this tag originated at Tia and All the Books on YouTube. Thanks, Emma, for letting me know!

Adaptation Snob – Do you always read the book before you see the movie or tv series?

I’m actually really weird when it comes to this and prefer to read the book after I see the movie or TV show. If I read it before, I spend the whole time I”m watching comparing it to the book, and it ruins my enjoyment. However, if I read the book after I see it, I can enjoy the book much more.

Format Snob – You can only choose 1 format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical books, ebooks, or audiobooks?

As much as I love physical books, I’m going with ebooks here. The thing I love about ebooks is when you finish one, you can get another one right away without having to wait for it to come.

Ship Snob: Would you date or marry a non-reader?

I so want to weasel out of this one by saying I don’t date or plan to marry. But… I don’t know, really. I guess I would, as long as they weren’t rude about me being a reader.

Genre Snob: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?

Fantasy, but only if fairy tale retellings aren’t considered fantasy. If they are, then het romance.

Uber Genre Snob: You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?

M/M romance.

Community Snob: Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

Fantasy.

Snobbery Recipient: Have you ever been snubbed for something that you have been reading or for reading in general?

Yup. When I was in high school, I was told I was boring because all I talked about was books and movies. I guess I should have been gossiping about other people or something.

If you’re reading this, haven’t done it, or just want to do it, consider yourself tagged!

What are you snobbish about in your reading? Drop a comment below and let me know!

  1. I don’t know why I didn’t do this before but I’ve gone through all the links and I think it originated on YouTube via the channel Tia And All The Books. I’ve edited my post to link it back to her and I’m glad because it’s always nice to honour the work that went into creating the tag.

As primarily a fantasy reader, I think I know where you are coming from when it comes to fantasy snobbery. Personally I haven’t seen it in the community as a lot of the people I talk to on a regular basis are fantasy readers, but I do get the snobbery at home quite a lot because people always expect me to be reading literary fiction or classics. It’s a little irritating.

    1. Yeah, I guess in the community there isn’t a lot of snobbery when it comes to fantasy, so maybe I should have chosen another genre. But in the real world, I get it a lot.

Thanks for letting me know who originated the tag. I’ll edit this post now, too!

  2. I tend to compare the book to the movie too. And I am married to a non reader, but both of my girls like to read at least. Hope you have a great weekend.
