Sunday Post, August 4

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by the Caffeinated Reviewer . It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and things you’ve received. The rules are here: The Sunday Post.

This week was rather laid back after my whirlwind trip. I went on the Whales, Wilderness, and Glamping trip through Spirit of the West Adventures and had an absolutely amazing time. I’ve always enjoyed kayaking, and I got plenty of it here. We went out every day, and the second day, we went out all day. I really though I wouldn’t be able to do an all day kayak, but the guides were really good about taking breaks, so it wasn’t hard. The best part is I was able to fulfill my lifelong dream of seeing an orca in the wild. I got to kayak in the water while they swam, and the next day, I saw them close up on a boat. It was magical.

The other wonderful part of the trip was hearing the humpbacks in the bay. I’d be lying in my tent at night and hear them breathing. It was so neat.

In other news, I’m starting school again next week. Well, I go back next week, and the kids come back the following week. I hope to keep on a normal posting schedule, but you never know what will happen. Life is unpredictable like that.

July Wrap-up

Another month in the can! Miraculously, despite spending my days in therapy and then a week away on a fantastic vacation, I managed to still read 11 books during the month. I’d hoped the read more, but I think 11 is a respectable number. I did DNF a few books, but that’s okay; I need to spend time on books I like, not force myself to read books I’m not enjoying.

In July, I read…

11 books: 6 physical, 4 e-book, 1 audio

3,200 pages (an average of 97 pages a day, down from last month)

12.23 hours listened on audio

5 YA, 5 romance, 1 memoir, and 1 non-fiction

2 purchase, 2 previously owned, 2 ARCs, 4 library books, and 1 borrowed from the owner of the bed and breakfast I stayed in.

The One by Kiera Cass

On the Come Up by Angie Thomas

Magpie Lord by K.J. Charles

So, not my most productive month, but I had a lot going on. I’m still reading and blogging, and that’s the important part, right?
