Reader Confession Tag

I saw this somewhere on the blog-o-sphere but forgot to write down whose blog I saw it on. I also don’t know the original creator, so if you know, please tell me. But, I thought it looked like fun and it’s been awhile since I’ve done a tag, so here I go!

Have you ever damaged a book?

Yes. I tend to read books until they fall apart. My copy of Star Wars: Heir to the Empire has been through the wringer, and my grandmother’s copy of To Kill a Mockingbird literally came apart in my hands (although, in my defense, it was already falling apart when I read it). I’m much better now about keeping books nice looking, but when I was younger, I was a lot harder on books.

Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

Yes. When I was a teenager, I had to buy my friend a lot of new copies of books she lent me because I’d accidentally damaged them. Most recently, I dropped all the avocado off my avocado toast onto a library book. I was able to get it all off, but the page was discolored. Luckily, the library didn’t charge me.

How long does it take you to read a book?

Anywhere from 2 to 4 days, usually.

Book that you haven’t finished?

There are quite a few, but my most recent DNFs are:

Lavinia was actually really good, but it just wasn’t working for me right now. Maybe another time. Dark Side of the Moon was just kind of boring. Plus, I don’t like the depiction of Artemis.

Hyped or popular books that you didn’t like?

Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor was just too stressful to me. And I didn’t like the intimate scenes between Lazlo and Sarai.

Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

I really don’t want to tell my sister I’m reading Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis, but usually, I don’t tend to hide what I’m reading.

How many books do you own?

Are you a fast or slow reader?

I think I’m a pretty fast reader.

Do you like to buddy read?

I’ve never done it before, but am open to the experience.

If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?

I’d choose Beauty by Robin McKinley because it’s my favorite Beauty and the Beast retelling and makes me happy.

If you haven’t done this tag yet, consider yourself tagged. I’d love to see your answers!
